John Howard Utah, USA

I am a native of Nebraska. Utah has been home for the past 23 years with the exception of 5 years while attending college. I have spent the past decade plus guiding fly fishing trips in Utah, Wyoming and Montana during the summer. I have been bird hunting since age 12. My obsession with waterfowl started at this time while chasing swarms of snow geese and mallards around the cornfields of the Missouri River bottoms in eastern Nebraska. I was fully consumed by goose hunting when I began seriously hunting resident giant Canadas while attending the University of Nebraska in the mid 80's. Now I hunt birds any chance I get. Annual trips to Alberta and Saskatchewan along with regular outings in Utah, Wyoming, Nebraska and Montana keep me occupied during the fall/winter along with my real job of course! I recently began competition calling. I won the 2002 and 2003 Utah State goose contest. I also have a first and a third place finish in two-man duck calling competitions. I find contests are a great way to meet people with similar interests and improve your calling skills. |
